Exploring Wellfleet Drive-In: Showtimes, Tips, and Community Rules

by | Jun 20, 2025

The Wellfleet Drive-In Theatre stands as a beloved Cape Cod landmark, offering a unique entertainment experience that transports visitors back to a simpler time. Operating since 1957, this nostalgic venue provides the perfect setting for families, couples, and friends to gather under the stars for an unforgettable night at the movies. As the weather warms and summer activities commence, the Wellfleet Drive-In has opened its gates for another season of cinematic adventures.

The Nostalgic Experience

The Wellfleet Drive-In offers more than just movies; it provides a complete evening of entertainment under the stars. Visitors can experience the joy of watching films on a massive outdoor screen from the comfort of their vehicles, creating memories that last a lifetime. The drive-in’s enduring popularity speaks to our collective desire for unique, shared experiences that connect us to both the past and each other in an increasingly technological age.

Current Showings

Currently, the Wellfleet Drive-In is featuring an exciting double feature with “How to Train Your Dragon” (PG) beginning at approximately 8:35 PM, followed by “The Phoenician Scheme” (PG-13) starting around 10:45 PM. This family-friendly lineup continues through Wednesday, June 25th, providing entertainment options suitable for various age groups. The box office opens at 7:00 PM each evening, with shows running regardless of weather conditions – rain or clear skies!

Ticket Pricing and Admission

Ticket pricing follows a tiered structure with general admission (ages 12-61) at $15.00, children (ages 4-11) at $10.00, and senior citizens (62+) at $12.00. Children three and under enjoy free admission at the drive-in. For those who prefer to secure their spot in advance, online tickets are available with a small additional fee of $1.50 per person. While advance tickets guarantee admission, they don’t reserve specific parking spaces, so early arrival is recommended for the best viewing options. The drive-in’s flexibility allows patrons to attend just the first feature, enjoy both movies, or arrive for only the second showing.

The Experience

For the best audio experience, visitors should tune their radios to 89.5 FM to hear the movie through their car speakers. The drive-in recommends keeping your vehicle’s owner’s manual handy to navigate how to keep the radio on while turning off headlights and other battery-draining accessories. Beyond movies, the Wellfleet Drive-In offers additional amenities to enhance your visit. The mini-golf course opens at 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM, perfect for pre-movie entertainment. A centrally located snack bar serves concessions including popcorn, burgers, and beverages, while the nearby Dairy Bar offers ice cream treats. Restrooms are conveniently situated on either side of the snack bar for patron comfort.

The drive-in also prohibits the use of car horns and requests that guests avoid pressing brake pedals unnecessarily, as the lights can disturb other moviegoers. Maintaining reasonable sound volume is essential out of respect for both fellow patrons and neighboring residents. Other prohibited activities include using bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, or scooters on the premises due to safety concerns in the darkened parking area. The management maintains a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior, with obscene language or harassment resulting in immediate ejection without refund. These guidelines help preserve the drive-in’s family-friendly atmosphere and ensure an enjoyable experience for the entire community.
